Design a product for consumer bathrooms
For this project I received the assignment to design a product for consumer bathrooms based on trend and user research. Rena is what was the result of this: a modular storage system for consumer bathrooms. With a smart attachment system Rena can be customised by all users to fit their bathroom.

2021Research
Half of the project was spent on research, resulting in three main areas of importance:
Peace
The first thing people value about bathrooms is peace. A bathroom is a place to retreat to and a place to recharge.
Space
The second point is space. People should feel like there is enough room for them and that it is a place to breathe.
Cleanliness
The final very important point is cleanliness. Without a neat and clean space people feel uncomfortable and would like to leave the bathroom.
Ideation
Concepts
After ideation, two concepts were selected as most promising. The first concept was mainly focused on cleanliness by overing a cleaning tool, while the second concept was also focussed on space and peace by offering storage in which one can also hide products behind doors.
Shape
Shape Ideation
Eventually it was decided that the cleaning tool should be incorporated in the storage system by offering a place to hide cleaning supplies. The shapes of the small cabinets were all carefully designed including the use of the golden ratio.

Modular Design
One of the most important features of the design is it's modularity. As bathrooms are very personal, people should be able to "design" it themselves. Multipole magnets were used in the design to offer this while also keeping a solid structure. The magnets can move freely and snap into place when two cabinets are close enough to each other.
